Internet Marketing Bible for Accountants by Nick Pendrell

My resolution this year was to knuckle down and do something to bring in some new clients for my practice, so I was pleased to see that Internet Marketing Bible for Accountants looked like it might point me in the right direction. I am happy to say that it has lived up to all of its promises.

I had bought a couple of more general books about online marketing in the past to try and learn the best way of promoting my business, but I found them very heavy going and was not able to get past the first few chapters of either of them, so it was a relief when I found that the Internet Marketing Bible was written for people like me who only had the very basic ideas as to how websites work.

Another advantage that this book has over the others is that it is written specifically for accountants and so the ideas that are covered in the book are only concerned with finding clients locally. The author doesn't bother with marketing methods that are more useful for reaching an audience which is national or international, such as blogging or starting a Youtube channel. The book also assumes that the reader has very little money to spend on their marketing activities. The vast majority of methods the writer suggests are either free or cost just a few dollars per month.

The book starts off with instructions as to what to do before starting a campaign. The most useful part of this chapter for me was some very simple but useful advice on how to write copy that really sells. Although there were just a few pages of information, it really told me where I had been going wrong while trying to write the text for the website in the past.

The main part of the book is divided into two main sections. The first section is about social media and covers sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. There's also a chapter on Google+ which I didn't know much about before reading this book. I already have a personal Facebook account and a profile on LinkedIn and so it was not difficult to understand how to make pages for my practice as well. The author does say not to expect fast results from a social media campaign, but I can see how it will achieve results over time, particularly LinkedIn which I never realized before how useful a tool it was for local professionals.

The second half of the book is more about websites and how to make the most use of them. Although I have had a website for a few years, I had never really managed to get many new clients from it. After reading this book, I now know why! Reading the 'Do's' and 'Don't' in the book made me realize that I had made a lot of mistakes while setting up the site which I am now in the process of fixing.

The part of the book about websites and getting the most out of them is more technical than the first half about social media - it's not something that you can skim through quickly and know all there is to do as there is so much to it. However, by working through each of the chapters one by one with the book in my hand, I found that I was able to understand the process of how to make sure that my site will appear high up in the search engines and also how to run a campaign using Google Adwords without spending a lot of money while getting nothing in return. The chapter describing how to get listed on Google Places was a real eye-opener - it only took me an afternoon to get my practice listed there and on a lot of other listing sites too.

In summary, Internet Marketing Bible for Accountants is a book that I can see myself coming back to week after week as I put more and more of the strategies into action. I can highly recommend it as a wonderful and valuable resource for any accountant wanting to put together an effective online marketing plan.

Book Review: Marketing Lessons From The Grateful Dead - Sugaree For Internet Marketing

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Marketing Lessons From The Grateful Dead by David Meerman Scott and Brian Halligan is hawked as "presenting (sic) the most compelling case study in the history of social media and inbound marketing based on the band that pioneered it all." It's true. Sugaree lives,

Before we had a name for 'inbound marketing' or 'social media,' the Dead knew what it was and how to work it.

They stood out from their competition by being different and being themselves. If you ever attended a concert where Jerry forgot some words, they made even their lifestyle a unique service that embraced who they were, without apology and with an ?clat never since replicated.

The book begins with a foreword from ostensibly the world's biggest Deadhead, though there are many contenders for that title. It's hard to argue with basketball legend, Bill Walton, at 6'11" who saw the band over 750 times. Read the forward; you won't be able to put the book down.

Halligan, a marketing expert and HubSpot CEO, comments on the inspiration for the collaborative writing effort: We (sic)... " had been talking about the Grateful Dead as social media pioneers in the days before the Web... We collaborated on a HubSpot webinar and the tremendous feedback showed us that this concept really resonates with people."

That resonation makes sense. The Dead's fan base was/is the baby boomer population, now approaching retirement. This population sector is a powerful online presence. It is also a population sector that embraced the 'live for today', instant gratification mindset and is notoriously underfunded for approaching retirement.

Many of this generation would like to retire earlier to enjoy retirement years before health declines kick in. They have deferred savings in deference to their engaged existence in the present. Marketing Lessons From The Grateful Dead is likely to resonate strongly with them.

Specific chapters address such ideas as challenging prevailing industry assumptions. Remember how you could tape a Dead concert without risk or problems? The band considered it a compliment and even encouraged it. They even had a special taping section.

Turn your customers into followers. Bypass traditional marketing networks and go direct. The new online social media is paving the way in this endeavor.

Customer experience is now called "branding." Dead concerts were an interactive experience, a personal connection between the Band and the audience. This is the optimal relationship of successful internet marketing today.

For the Dead generation that didn't save for retirement, think again, like Jerry. Read this book. Take it to heart.

You can take the lessons pioneered by the Dead and build something now with no regrets later and validation for the way you've lived your life to date.

Marketing Lessons shows you how to build supplemental income if you take the lessons seriously and apply them.

Start building that income now and you can sit back by the fire and rock on to "Uncle John's Band," though your grand kids prefer Lady Gaga. Sugaree lives.

Save Money on Your Textbooks by Buying Online

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Every freshman is surprised to see the price of books in the campus bookstore. Students who are paying their own way through college somehow expect cheap textbooks and often don't budget enough for these outrageous prices. New textbooks cost hundreds of dollars and used textbooks, when they are available, are not much cheaper.

Are they worth the price? Probably not. Textbooks are just that. They are books that are used for a particular class in school. Sometimes lucky students will get to use the same book for two classes, but that hardly ever happens. The vast majority of college textbooks have no use outside of that class. So why purchase brand new books for hundreds of dollars just to put them on a shelf or sell them back to the campus bookstore for a fraction of what you paid for them?

There is good news for struggling college's students and their parents. You don't have to take out the maximum in student loans just to pay for textbooks. Though your school is not likely to provide this information to you, you do not have to buy your textbooks from the campus bookstore. There are various ways to buy cheap textbooks. In some cases, you may not even have to buy the books.

One option for saving money on books is to buy used textbooks from the bookstore. Used textbooks vary in quality but most are in good condition with some highlighter markings. Campus bookstores buy back books every semester and resell them to students for twice the amount they paid the student for the used book. In addition to the campus bookstore, students can also buy used books online. Because the textbooks that are sold online are sold by individuals and not bookstores, students are likely to get a better deal. Buying online takes a little more planning, though. Depending on where the book is being mailed from, it may take over a week to arrive.

If you don't need a hard copy of the textbook and you may use the material again, an ebook is another cheaper way to buy a textbook. Renting is a newer trend in the college to get a textbook. Rental books can be ordered online or through a campus bookstore. When the class is over, return the rented book. With rented textbooks, there is no worry about what to do with the book after the class is over.

As with any other major investment, college students should shop around before purchasing textbooks. Cheap textbooks are available in print and electronic form also. You will find that the price varies widely depending on where you buy your books.

Your Path to Success Is Through Internet Marketing

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

When promoting your business online, are you using internet marketing? If you have yet to spread your branches into the online world, you ought to consider doing so. This blog article will help you understand the basics of Internet marketing, which in turn will help you develop your online marketing strategies.

TIP! Find a unique and clever way to make your article promotional. Readers love it when a writer/site owner tries something new and interesting. Site wide links are links that found on all of your website's pages. Generally, you should place them on the bottom of a page. If you have a page on your site that you would like everyone to view, you should implement site wide links. They will be able to see the site-wide links at the bottom. A menu is the best way to direct customers to your website. An organized menu with descriptions for each link is most effective.

TIP! Offer a free short report as an incentive to sign-up to your newsletter. You or a hired writer can write the report, but it will entice possible customers to sign up to get e-mails from you. Understanding and implementing Meta tags can be an important component for any web-based business owner. Your visitors do not see Meta tags, but search engines recognize them to categorize your website. Because the very first Meta tags you put in are the most important, you should make sure they are relevant and of high quality. Never use too many Meta tags, and use alternative tags when necessary. The best method of locating and using the most effective Meta tags is to do research and know what you are trying to promote. Remember this when you are looking at how you should market your website.

TIP! Stay consistent with your writer's voice. If you want to establish yourself as an authority in article marketing, you have to develop a consistent writing voice that is easily recognizable. HTML tags are useful for many things. The essential H tag marks the most important text. This tag allows the characters to show up as bold which will make them stand out from the rest of your text. You should place these tags in titles and meaningful paragraphs, as well as for subsection titles. Readers will be more likely to read your content if you do this. Search engine spiders will follow these tags to find important keywords. Make certain you use keywords in your titles.

TIP! Get a plug-in for Twitter that will automate sending your content links to your twitter feed. This is especially important if you are a prolific writer and adding tons of content each day. Promote your services by using methods you have never tried. Many Internet marketers stick to the proven SEO and marketing tactics. However, you should explore all your options.

TIP! Do not become discouraged if you cannot get your thoughts organized for your articles. Everyone experiences some form of writer's block now and then. The internet is unique in its culture in that, occasionally, a website, video or even a picture will become a "buzz". Viral material is material used and shared by a large number of people. This may be a temporary advantage, but this material can really boost your sales activity while it lasts.

There is no way to know what will be popular. However, do your best to create new and fun content, and encourage people to share it on YouTube and social media sites. Search popular content on the video, and you will be able to tell what things your customers want to see. This article contains a sampling of the techniques you can use with internet marketing. Use these strategies as a starting point, and keep searching for more ways to make your campaigns even better.

Red Pistachios, Pink Lemonade, and Yellow Butter

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Advertising is a colourful business. On its good days, it helps to find missing children, rebuild disaster-ravaged countries and give mom and pop a shot against the big corporations.

On its bad days, it poisons.

Throughout history, there have been some nefarious techniques that marketers have employed to cut through the clutter and make their products seem more appealing.

This includes changing the colour of the product itself.

For years, pistachios were red. For the consumers of the heavily processed 70s and 80s, this was nothing more than a great idea. It was an accident to begin with, but it proved to be a lucrative discovery: red nuts sold better than green ones. Unfortunately, this dye was later suspected to be a carcinogen.

Regular lemonade just didn't seem to leap from the shelves. It wasn't until they were dyed it pink that a phenomenon was created. Pink Lemonade became synonymous with wholesome summer picnics and kids at the park on a sunny day. Too bad it's unnatural. To this day people associate pink drinks with lemonade without really putting two and two together.

Butter is not naturally yellow. It's white. But yellow sells, as strange as that sounds. In Canada, only in Quebec is it illegal to dye butter yellow. If you buy a stick, it comes with a little packet of jaundiced goo so you can do it yourself. They have strict rules on advertising there. No ads for children. And there are none of those annoying inserts in magazines. It's a good start.

Norway is also against putting poison in food, especially candy. You cannot buy blue candies there because there is nothing in nature that is that colour of blue. While this may seem strange to North Americans, they have nipped a very important rule of advertising in the bud - thou shall not lie to the consumer.

Advertising is a lot like fire. It can keep you warm and cook your food, but it can also ravage cities and burn down homes if allowed to get out of control or in the wrong hands. It is simply a force of nature, like water or electricity. No more, no less.

On the positive side, advertising bolsters the economy. It gets people spending money, and brings lesser-known products to the attention of consumers - making it possible for new businesses to develop. It increases competition between companies, which keeps prices down and fuels inventiveness. It brings millions of dollars to relief funds like the Red Cross when countries are ravaged by hurricanes, and a text message is the easiest way to send help.

However, advertising also has a dark side. There is a belief that advertising is the art of deceit. It has been used to perpetuate half-lies, hide the truth, downplay the dangers and change the very structure of its products in a way that is actually harmful to consumers. It has been used to instill fear, shame, doubt and anger - in order to make people buy.

Back in the day, changing the colour of a product with a poisonous dye did not seem like such a terrible sin. Advertising was widely accepted as a necessary evil, and the tactics used to perpetuate sales were not tied with the reputation of a brand.

Today, that has changed. The public is more media-savvy. They are tired of being lied to. They are selective. Today there is the Advertising Standards Council, AdBusters, censor groups and consumer watchdogs that make sure dangerous products stay off our shelves. At least that is the idea.

Advertising can be intrusive, annoying and irritating. But it can also be useful, entertaining and informative. It all comes down to how well the writers do their jobs, and the principles behind those making the campaigns.

Mark Twain once stated that: "Many a small thing has been made large by the right kind of advertising." He's right. Advertising is the act of bringing a single product or service to the attention of the public, through a sea of information and noise. It's a force in itself.

Stimulate Your Senses to Generate New Ideas

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

No, I'm not talking about dropping LSD (despite what Sterling Cooper from Mad Men would have you believe). I'm referring to getting outside of your normal routine and throwing your internal guide off the beaten path for spell.

Sorry to be on the Mad Men tip so much lately but there are some great one-liners. Such as this one from Don;

We pay our creatives, to do just that, what is that? Whatever they want until they have their next idea.

For me, I always feel like I need to be pushing, be productive and that never means doing "whatever". However, more often than not, when I force myself to work or think creatively, it's always sub-par.

The best ideas usually just arrive, on their own time.

So, I've started going-with-the-flow and have been cooking-up more ideas than ever. The trick is to not make this the bulk of your time spent. You'll still need to get your other tasks completed to be successful.

That being said, here are a few tips for stimulating your creativity without wasting time:

Spend more time with your most eccentric friends. My collection of friends range from Venture Capitalists to starving artist hipster types. Having a full range of perspective has helped me a lot. The best ideas don't always come from the best educated, employed or financially successful people. In fact, I'd say it's the opposite, great ideas come from struggle. Channel your inner Nietzschze.
Spend more time watching Television. Funny right? Watching TV seems counter-productive. However, if you switch-up your viewing preferences and start watching BBC or PBS or something incredibly random instead of your usual you may be surprised. I actually had a great idea for a campaign while watching a kids cartoon a few days ago.
Leave the plantation. Get away from your usual scenery. Live in the city, take a cruise through the countryside or vice-versa. When we consistently see the same things all around us we tend to think the same thoughts when we see them. Stimulating your visual experience with new landscapes, sounds and smells will help get the brain moving in a different direction.

Pretty simple stuff, I know but sometimes we need to be reminded. Creativity is an exercise, not just a gift and much like modern "muscle-confusion" workouts for the body, a little mind-confusion can also be beneficial. Keep your brain guessing and enjoy the ride.

Simple Steps for Beginning A Content Marketing Strategy

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

This post will provide some simple steps to help you outline what needs to be done when developing a digital marketing strategy. Sure, there is a heck of a lot more to go with this, but this should help you create the foundation.

Social/Digital Media Assessment
The first step will be to become more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of your existing digital communication process. This will help define how to move forward with each existing process and which we develop from scratch.

Content Audit
Immediately after the assessment the content audit begins. A thorough review of existing content will be conducted. Agreed upon content should be considered as digital assets that can be used within the overall strategy.

Competitor Analysis
A competitor review will also be conducted. Data will be gathered to study and compare performance across competitive media channels. For example,  study competitor websites, social media channels and audience reach. This data will be used to shape entry into competitor-occupied, digital media channels.

Trend Research
Research into the consumption habits of digital media amongst stakeholders. Key findings will help identify who, where and when to communicate with the various types of stakeholders. This will also help define a publishing schedule.

Persona Development
Identify key stakeholder personalities and assign them a persona. The criteria used to form the persona will consist of media consumption habits, demographic, needs and location. The persona will be used to determine the digital voice and communication strategy.

Audience Development
The primary focus of this stage will be finding the audience that you want to speak with. This stage will also be used to identify the where and when of audience engagement. A gentle entry into the digital media channel will be necessary to develop this stage.

Publishing
Begin to leverage the digital content assets that were identified in the content audit stage. Use this content to create blog posts, white papers, case studies, tweets, email campaigns and anything else that is needed to communicate your voice. Develop an editorial calendar and stick to it. Treat your business like a publishing company.

Monitoring
Analytics software and digital media monitoring tools make it possible to track when people engage with SHP. The data gained in this stage can be measured against industry benchmarks and used to help us define a success metric.

Social Media Is An Asset To Your Legal Practice Marketing - Not A Risk

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Solicitors and legal professionals seem to be frightened of blogging. Hardly surprising when you consider yours is a profession in which the written word constitutes a trail of evidence. Taking a look at legalese in any form, with its lack of punctuation and its endless clauses, would make anyone afraid of writing a blog: the whole legal profession, after all, has been brought up to believe that any written words that are not couched in legalese are right away suspicious because their meaning can be twisted in a court of law.

The ill-fated high profile cases of jurors contacting defendants using Facebook haven't helped. In the minds of the legal eagles, the social network is unguarded, tricky to control and potentially libellous or prejudicial.

In fact, it's extremely fruitful ground for law firms, particularly firms looking to break new ground in terms of contact and connection. Law is perfect for blogging, because it's such a tortuous and mystifying profession to outsiders " and because expertise in completely different areas is frequently required by your network of associated firms and professionals.

The blogosphere makes rapidly rising stars out of genuinely authoritative voices. A viral legal blog can get exponential levels of attention for your company within the law community and its associated professional spheres " exactly the places you need to cast around for new business.

The trick is to write engaging, precise blogs that show you to be an expert in your chosen field. If you are a conveyancing law firm, write authoritative, snappy blogs about current issues in conveyancing. If your area of expertise is divorce law, write the same kind of stuff but for divorce issues.

The tone of a legal blog needs careful consideration of course. The blogosphere traditionally responds to opinionated posts, or to posts that display a new angle on a current topic. Neither of these things is beyond the reach of an intelligent lawyer or law firm.

Admittedly, opinionated entries swerve slightly in the direction of the content management issues alluded to at the top of this post: if you are nervous about the public image of your firm you are unlikely to want to start spouting strong opinions. That said, as long as you do it intelligently there is no reason why your firm cannot blog in an opinionated fashion about its own area of expertise. An expertly arranged set of opinions or advice pieces can set you apart from the other law firms, as a go-getter with a bit of energy to you.

The mechanics of translating authoritative blog posts into business are pretty simple. Your blogs get attention from complementary firms and businesses, who discover them because you are posting on topic strands that are pertinent to your area of law. The posts spark their interest and so they take a look at your website. Enough posts making sense on current topics and you'll start a following, which routinely comes to you for help.

4 Smart Ways To Create Passive Income

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

What is passive income? It is a form of income that keeps paying you after the initial effort to establish it is done.

If you would like to know how to do this, keep reading.

Passive income is not exclusively a tool for the rich. They may be the first to realize how to use it, but you can find out the same information that they already know to increase your monthly income and overall net worth.

The goal of passive income is to capitalize on what work you have already done.

It frees you up to spend time with family and friends or to pursue another business venture.

Either way, it is a win-win situation for you and your business.

So, without further ado, here are some ways that you can set into motion a passive income stream.

It will take work on the front end to get things set up, but you are striving for an income source that will keep on giving so that's okay.

Passive Income Strategies

Affiliate Programs

You are not limited to one affiliate program at a time but make sure you choose your programs wisely.

Do some research to find one that is compatible but not in direct competition with your product or niche.

Set up a blog or website to promote it and be sure to use all of the tools in your affiliate toolbox in order to maximize your traffic and profits.

Once all is set up and you have developed a workable system, watch your hard work pay off.

Write Content

Sites like Associated Content pay for content once but also offer an incentive program that continues to pay each month.

Promote your content on your website and social networking sites to increase your page views and monthly payments.

Try Advertising

This can be Google AdSense or another service where you promote certain services and get paid per click or conversion.

Choose a program that works best with your business and it will probably require research to find the best keywords but once you find out you are on the right road, stick with your system to continue to pull in dollars.

Maximize Your Product Offerings

How can you do this? You can take the content that you have been posting on your website.

Combine this into booklet form and create a workbook that you offer in your site store or on eBay.

Turn that group of content into an audio series that you offer to your customers.

Want to tease them? Give away a special report based on this series to those who sign up for your mailing list.

Then create an email series to entice them to buy the larger ebook you can compile.

One set of content can spawn audios, videos, workbooks, teleseminars, podcasts, ebooks and more.

The initial work was done upfront with the content and very little needs to be done to turn it into something more.

You can start creating passive streams of income with these ideas and when you are ready to venture further then set up a strategy session and we can discuss other ways to create more income for you.

I hope that this information has been helpful to you and if so I'd love to hear about it!

Please leave me a comment letting me know at least one tip that you plan to use immediately because you're know it will make a difference in your business.

Have an amazing day!

Review of Tim Bekker's Make Me a Millionaire - Is It Worth a Try?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you are trying to make a living on-line, you might have been promised a hundred times that you just push a button and the millions will come to you, haven't you? We all go through that phase, until we realize that the only money the guy is making is coming from people like us, falling for the hype. I have been through this, and you might as well. In the below review I am going to explore if Tim Bekker's Make Me a Millionaire is just another scam or a legitimate training program.

If you are not familiar with the name Tim Bekker, he is the guy who has been Clickbank's number one affiliate a couple of times, and has been in the top 100 for years. He is doing it using special affiliate marketing strategies, and I think he is clever. The best way to do business online, still, is to have your own product, and Tim Bekker decided to create some teaching other online marketers to master the strategies he is using at the moment.

Why is Tim Bekker's Make Me a Millionaire different?
Tim Bekker is not promising super-fast results like other on-line marketing trainers. He is focusing on long term results. The money you make will depend on how hard you work learning the affiliate marketing strategies, and how fast you take action. He does not promise you millions overnight, but offers you the chance to build up your million dollar online affiliate business gradually.

What does Tim Bekker's Make Me a Millionaire offer?
The training is a step by step program, and is suitable for starting up affiliates as well as advanced users. It is not a "get rich quick" program, and you need to follow the steps as you go. It offers an easy to follow learning plan, to help you get set up with your affiliate marketing business. It teaches techniques, traffic generation strategies and skills to make it happen.

Can you become a millionaire with Tim Bekker?
Tim is obviously not promising that everyone who buys this training package for a mere $7 will be making millions. Honestly speaking, it is up to you. You either take on the course and learn the techniques; implement the methods, or not. Nobody has ever made a killing in affiliate marketing by watching some videos. The choice is yours, but all the tools and knowledge you need are included in the program. Overall, I think the training module is a bargain, and is suitable for anyone who is serious about making money online.

Hiring An Effective SEO Expert

Search engine optimization is a rapidly growing industry; and subsequently, more and more agencies are offering their different specialties. Looking to work with an SEO consulting firm is a smart move, but it is also vital that you choose an SEO expert that has a deep understanding about the internet and truly knows their stuff. Before hiring an SEO firm, make sure you do a little research on this topic to provide for a better grounding. This will also help you understand the basic SEO terminologies and at the same time set those alarm bells ringing if you sense something fishy.

When starting a professional relationship with an SEO expert, the initial issue you should address is their company ethics. Unethical SEO firms implement the 'black hat' method. This is a combination of spamming and other bad practices that can be very detrimental to your website in the eyes of many search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. You wouldn't want your site to be blacklisted and totally removed from these major search engines.

Once you have ascertained that the SEO consulting firm you are planning to work with adheres to a set of ethical standards, confirm if the agency is able to explain practices and techniques in a simple and straightforward manner. There are a couple of SEO companies that dress the SEO work as a dark art that can only be understood by a few people. This should not be the case and it is important that a certain agency is more than willing to keep you posted on what is truly happening with your SEO project. Your SEO expert should also provide you a good explanation of any changes that they will be making.

Finally, for the almo? and Cartelera side, an SEO expert should be able to guarantee you real and tangible outcomes. The industry's best companies are those that are able to present their work in a format and structure that will complement their clients' needs. Companies that refuse to give reports and even charge extra for basic documents should at all times be avoided. It is important to keep track with the success and failures of your website.

Before even hiring your very own SEO expert, here are some of the questions that you should ask to help you pick the right person for the job.

What are the things and SEO strategies that you will implement for my site?

SEO is not something that happens in a short span of time. Ask them about their commonly used strategies when it comes to improving page ranks.

What information do you need from my business?

Some of the SEO techniques that they will be using will require your input.

What it the ROI for most of your clientele?

How do you measure your project's effectiveness?

Your agency should be able to provide you a realistic timeframe and ROI metric.

Who will be my contact person and how are the project's updates communicated to me?

Make sure you get updates for your ranking. This will tell you if there is some progress going on or none at all.

Can you give me some of your references?

It always pays to hear some of the testimonies from their previous clients.

My Gripe About Webinars and Teleseminars

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Okay, so I'm an information junkie and love the internet for the sharing of information. As a lifelong learner, it's my personal library where I can learn about topic A and 10 minutes later, I can move on to topic B without missing a beat. Instead of waiting for the teacher to move on, I can move on myself and this is the secret to me keeping that love of learning alive.

Naturally, I like the idea of Teleseminars and Webinars. Experts and professionals can teach their content at a designated time in a group setting where participants can ask questions about the teaching. This benefits all of the participants, since questions will arise that some didn't think of, thus benefiting from that "group think" atmosphere.

So, what's my gripe? What are my undies all in an uproar about?  The presentation.

I've been listening to and watching these things for years and they are all the same. In a typical teleseminar or webinar that lasts about 60-70 minutes, you've got 10 minutes of welcoming us to the thing, 10 minutes of their introductions and history, 10 minutes of playing on my emotions to get me jazzed about the problem they present which lays the pavement for their 10 minutes of solution. Then we've got 10 minutes of testimonials from people who have bought, used and seen good results with whatever they are selling and 10-15 minutes of final pitch.

Can we please change this model?

I don't have time to sit through a video that offers me no operational controls. Yeah, the videos now are frequently without the ability to scroll ahead or be saved so I can listen at a future date, so I'm forced to sit through it. Are people really that arrogant that they can take our time in this way?

If I could talk to all of those people making videos like this, I would say that this is a consumer driven world! Heck, Alex Mandossian taught us this way back when and yet, there are still those of you who demand our complete attention for an hour or so when your REAL content would only take up 15 minutes so why do you insist we stop our life for an hour? Internet marketers and teachers alike tell us that when we work online, it only takes a short amount of time, that it lends itself to less of a time investment which is why it's so attractive, yet your presentations take forever! You're certainly not practicing what you preach.

Even though I'm seeing videos that are down to 40 minutes, I still have to wait until half way through and go through all of that BORING FLUFF to get to the bottom line offering. What WORSE is that I have to sit even longer to find out the price!

And what is up with all of these bonuses? They are INSANE. How can bonuses be worth more than the original offering? Come on! With information products, the pricing really only reflects the author's perception and choice of a price point and not necessarily the actual value. Why would someone offer me a $97 product but then give away bonus products along with it that total up to a "claimed" value $1,000? Be serious.

I know that people think one's story is of significance to the rest of us. Well, here's a news shot. To many, it's NOT! I don't care about the woes and hardships of the developer or the whys and wherefores of how it all came about. I first want to know what it is, if it will work for me, how easy it is to implement, how much it costs and how soon I can get it working for me. That's it! Once I have it working for me, then I'll be interested in how it all came about- maybe.

If you MUST cater to those who have all the time in the world to hear your self-serving fluff and sob story, then fine. Keep your presentations as they are. BUT - please make a second, more concise version for those of us who are savvy enough to just want the bottom line. We get the desire for you to play on our emotion, but we don't need to be coerced. We'll buy if we like what we see and it can work for us and we'll know this immediately. You won't need to hand us the tissue box.

This is why in my radio show, Mind Your Own Business Radio, I don't have a lot of fluff. I get down to brass tacks with my guests and we get to the meat of their message. I try to respect the time of my listeners and not make them sit through the entire show just to hear a couple of pertinent sentences.

That's my gripe. What say you?

My Legit Online Jobs Review for 2011

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Legit Online Jobs is an online computer course that says they will provide you listings of legitimate jobs that you can do from your home to earn extra money (I say extra because I don't think anyone should plan on a full time income from this when they first start out). The Legit Online Jobs system is developed by Ross Williams and has been on the market for a few years now. When you sign up you get a lifetime membership that provides you with a resource of over 10,000 (and growing) online businesses that need some type of freelance worker to do projects on the web. Legit Online Jobs claims that a large number of these businesses pay huge sums of cash when you place ads for them, but the truth is, your ad must get enough attention to earn that large amount of money.

But for a second, let's take a look at what I find may be negatives when it comes to using the Legit Online Jobs course. Ross Williams says that one of their main benefits that their membership provides is that they do their best to remove possible scams from their system, but of course, this assumes that you are willing to pay for their membership (which is currently $49.95, not too bad if you make more than that).

As far as Legit Online Jobs testimonials are concerned (I always review these as sometimes they can tell you if a system seems fake or if they are fly-by-night systems), there are 3 audio testimonials and three written testimonials. I listened to the first testimonial, and truthfully it is was hard to tell if this one was real or not. But the second review by a woman named Peggy sounds very real and she claims to be making a good living online using the list of real jobs she got from Legit Online Jobs. The truth is, I've hired plenty of freelancers online to help me finish a bunch of projects online (like websites), so I am proof that there are businesses out there that are looking to hire you for extra money.

But is the list of businesses you get from Legit Online Jobs worth it? I guess if you make more than the price of the system, you've earned your money back and then some. Making money online isn't easy, but I am proof that it is possible. As far as I am concerned, anything that helps you cut through the clutter of garbage such as this list of businesses that need freelancers saves you time in the longer run. And time really is money in the end, right?

One thing I need to mention is to be careful about the screenshot that says "Weekly Sales Snapshot" showing the possible earnings. These are Clickbank screenshots, and often they can be deceptive, trying to show you that you can earn major amounts of money every day, but I can tell you from my Clickbank account that it takes effort, time, and work to get there. Just like everything online (and offline for that matter), the difference between making money online and living your dreams is the work you put into it. Any over-night success story that you hear about is often a small percentage of the pie of real online freelancers. Put in some elbow grease and some real, honest, hard work, and you are that much closer to living the dream of working from home or telling your boss to shove it. I just hope Ross Williams and his Legit Online Jobs system keeps the list of business up to date. Because what is the point of a lifetime membership if nothing ever changes or updates?

Internet Marketing Strategies - Keyword Research

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

One of my top tips for anyone starting out online or setting up a business is to put together a sound marketing strategy plan. But before you do this, I want to let you in on one of THE most important internet marketing strategies you will ever learn.

Keyword Research - Keyword Research is the most important foundation of any business in today's markets. be it an online business or an offline business, your internet marketing strategies are going to prove to be the lifeblood of your research and planning when setting up.

A solid approach keyword research will show you in an instant whether there is a market out there for your product or service, and will determine the profitability of your future marketing campaigns.

Sounds like a strong statement doesn't it?

I'm sorry to say, but it's true. For those of you who put little to no thought into, OR who don't understand the high significance of keywords, in their internet marketing strategy, the keyword research you do before getting one single web page up will have a tremendous impact on how well you market to your target audience.

If you're an offline business (purely shopfront) you will need to consider implementing keyword research into your marketing strategy before you start, as most consumers now search online for their product or service before purchase or physical visits to businesses.

No pressure.

So - you're probably wondering "why is this keyword research so darned important to my internet marketing Strategies?"

Imagine for one moment that you own a Web Design Company and you've been invited to speak at an event.

You turn up, ultra prepared, notes in hand to deliver the presentation of your life.

You step out in front of the 200 or so attendees, everything goes to plan, and you speak ever so compellingly for about 25 minutes.

When you are finished, the crowd claps nicely...almost out of obligation. Everyone leaves their seat immediately, and heads to the hotel bar, leaving you standing their, no questions to answer, no-one to follow up, no exciting after speech buzz to attend to.

You're knocked sideways. It was your best presentations to date! You were compelling, but not too sales-y. You presented the problems with no pitch, and you managed to outline the available solutions, before unveiling your perfect product to fit the bill.

So, what happened?

The people you were presenting to weren't expecting you...they were waiting on someone else who was going to present about business network marketing. They don't even understand and weren't interested in your area of expertise and had little or no interest in your product.

Put simply.....this wasn't YOUR audience. This was not your target market.

You had everything prepared...you had perfectly prepared, presented and led right to the obvious solution...your product. But you were in front of the wrong people.
But how does this relate to keyword research as part of my internet marketing strategy?

People who visit your site are a direct relation to the keywords you are optimizing for. If you only tell search engines about your company name, how will people looking for your services find you?

For example - Say you're a trendy hairdressers called 'Zap Cuts' and you build your website stuffed with Zap Cuts specials and Zap Cuts Pricelist etc, you're not directing it towards your consumer. Your target market are not looking for 'Zap Cuts' They are looking for "Hairdressers."

By setting out Keyword research as the most important part of your internet marketing strategy, you will determine what phrases people are searching for that have the problem for your solution. They are searching for "perfect pick up lines" or "golf swing techniques" not "The Potty Putter." They don't even know you company even exists!

And, unless you do effective keyword research and optimize your site for it, they never will.

So, how do you go about finding the right keywords to research? Put yourself in your customers shoes. If you were someone out there with the problem your product solves, what would you be searching for?

"How to perfect my golf swing"

"Free Dog Training Guide"

"Best Art Museums"

"Traditional kids toyshops"

These keywords are the search terms your customers are using to find YOUR BUSINESS. These are the terms you need to incorporate in your Internet Marketing plan.

Of course, keyword research doesn't end there. There are many internet marketing courses and marketing skills you can use in conjunction with KW research that will compliment your findings and enhance your ability to translate the necessary action you need to take to optimize your website and online marketing campaigns.

Simple Method For Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing can be very rewarding and fun. There are a few different methods that you can follow to achieve your goals. Remember it is always a good idea to think outside the box and try some new methods yourself. A lot of people are lured into the idea that marketing can be automated and you don't have to put any time into it. This is totally false if you have been sold on this idea then you are destined to failure. No matter what type of job you do there is a certain amount of work you have to put into it this is the same for making money online.

One method that I have had a lot of luck with is, using a squeeze page. Squeeze pages are set up to collect info from the visitors such as emails and names, usually if people fill out the form they are given a free gift of some sort such as a news letter, ebook, video etc etc... Building a list can bring you alot of success. Sending out emails from your auto answer is much more effective then sending out a tweet on twitter, think about it people can just ignore your tweets but it is pretty hard to ignore email messages. My favorite part with this method is it is very quick and simple to set up. The main focus of your squeeze page should be to set it up to convert. Make people want to fill out your opt in form give them a gift that is to good to pass up.

The next obstacle to overcome is to get a steady flow of traffic to your page. My suggestion here is to get your link out there. You can do this by forum posting with a link added to your site in your signature, promote on social networking sites, and blog commenting don't get me wrong there are several ways to bring traffic to your site like I said before, think outside the box. Forum posting may take some time before you start seeing results but the wait is well worth it. Make sure you are posting interesting content within the forum so people will take notice. This goes the same for social networking make your tweets on twitter interesting enough for people to take notice, like I said above it is pretty easy to ignore to tweet. And blog posting this can work just like forums and it also adds a one way link to your site so it works out real well for you. Keep your post on the topic and interesting the rest will take care of itself.

So as long as you do a good amount of research and promote your site well you can make a very descent living online. Don't lose your focus, keep your head up and have a little patience it will all pay off for you as long as you do not give up. There is plenty of help out there just look for it.

Cheers,
Woody
